Lemon Licks in C: this lesson will introduce you to the incredible licks that Bllind Lemon Jefferson used whenever he played rags and blues in the key of C. I'll also show you how to plug these into a 12 bar blues so you can either have fun in your living room or jam with your friends.
Transposing Licks: Now this is where it really gets interesting. I'll show how to transpose licks to other chords...using those 'Lemon Licks' as prime examples. With this lesson mastered you'll be on your way to expanding that fingerboard. The best part... it's easy to understand!
The Power of Paste: Bad Luck Blues by Lemon Jefferson never sounded so complete. With this lesson you'll learn how to mix and match, cut and paste any of these licks to any of the chords in the song. Never again will you have to be locked into playing the same arrangement over and over again.
Stingy Mama Blues Licks: Let's move on to the key of A and see what another great blues man named Blind Boy Fuller did here. This is a version of his classic song: Stingy Mama Blues.
Lemon Meets Fuller: Now we'll take those Lemon Licks in C, transpose them to the key of A and apply them to Stingy Blues. Here's where you'll really learn how to be creative.
Lemon Licks in A - Another one of Jefferson's favorite keys was the key of A. In the last lesson we had a little taste of that but here we'll really see the variety of hot licks that he played in this key. Seeing as how the key of A is one of the most popular blues keys, you'll be able to take these licks and apply them just about anywhere.
Fuller Meets Robert Johnson: Kind Hearted Woman is one of Robert Johnson's famous songs. Here we'll do something completely different and tasty: taking some of Blind Boy Fullers famous licks in A and plugging them into Kind Hearted Woman. This lesson will show you how to think outside the box.
Soup To Nuts, A to E: The key of E is probably one of the most widely used keys in the country blues. Lets take those cool licks from Fuller, Johnson and Jefferson in A and transpose them to E, sticking them into a 12 bar blues that you can jam on.
Lonnie Johnson and Drop D - Another master of licks was Lonnie Johnson. Here we'll see what he did in Drop D tuning and what the heck, lets throw in some of those Lemon licks in A for good measure.
Lonnie's Gumbo: Now we'll combine the licks from Lonnie Johnson, Lemon Jefferson, Robert Johnson and Fuller into one song jam packed with ideas from the previous lessons.
