As this blog is called 'Beyond the 3rd Fret' I thought it only fitting to announce the inclusion of two new columns which will be of interest to all you guitar players out there.

The first is one written by yours truly called 'Tips For Guitarists.' I learned a thing or two about a thing or two and am sharing my thoughts with anyone who cares to read 'em. It'll be an ongoing column so 'tune' in from time to catch the latest. 

The second one is a contribution from my friend Dennis Macpherson of Black Pearl Guitars. He's my luthier and go-to guy when it comes to maintaining and repairing my instruments. It's called 'The Luthier's Corner' and I think you pickers will get a lot of good helpful information from there. Like 'Tips' it will also be an ongoing column.

Carol and I just got back from doing a gig in New Fairfield CT. Played to a packed, full house of 130 + people and had a fantastic time. 2 sets, standing ovations and an encore. The folks there couldn't have been nicer... sold a boatload of merchandise. But after a long drive it's time to hit the hay.

That's what I'm having working with this new site. I just added an 'Open House' welcome page and there's some very cool goodies for you all there.

So folks, let me know what you think of those 'goodies.' I can't tell you what they are.. you'll just have to find out for yourself...

I finished working up fingerpicking arrangements of 5 Hank Williams songs and should be in the studio shooting a new instructional DVD for Homespun at the end of February. This is going to be a fun one folks.

I'm also back to learning bluegrass... one of my original loves ever since I heard Doc Watson on the 'Will The Circle Be Unbroken' album.

The first post on my brand new re-designed web site. Here goes:
For those of you who already are fans I'm sure this new look comes as a surprise. I sure hope you like it. I personally love this design and the software - Weebly.com - is a snap to use. I'll be posting quite a few videos, songs and whatever else I can think of in the future so stay tuned.

On another 'note' I look forward to all your comments, suggestions and questions.. especially from all you guitar players out there - hence the title of blog - 'Beyond The Third Fret.' I'm ALWAYS learning new things on the guitar and love to share those experiences with all of you. I'm also interested in what you may be learning so keep me tuned in.
