Hot Turbo Tuna
One of my first inspirations was Hot Tuna, specifically the fingerpicking of Jorma Kaukonen. In this series of lessons, I'll not only show you some of the traditional blues he played, but I'll also show you a whole bunch of licks and tricks I added to the songs which I know you'll enjoy!! You'll learn how to play the following songs: • Candy Man - a song originally done by Reverend Gary Davis, but with all kinds of cool twists. • Hesitation Blues - You'll learn bluesy licks and interesting ways of using chord inversions and diminished chords • Whining Boy Blues - a blues and jazz chord progression with some tasty licks thrown in. • How Long Blues and 99 Year Blues - you'll learn how to play these traditional songs in a liberating, fun way.

In Hot Turbo Tuna, I broke down 5 very popular songs played by Hot Tuna. With this NEW set I'm adding 5 more songs! You'll learn how to play the following songs: • 'I Am The Light Of This World' - Reverend Gary Davis I remember learning this song from a friend of mine who was a Hot Tuna fanatic. I always thought some bluegrass style lead breaks would work well as solos. • 'Embryonic Journey' - Jorma Kaukonen I'll teach you my arrangement and show you how to improvise your own lead breaks while playing an alternating bass. • Death Don't Have No Mercy - Reverend Gary Davis It's not accident that Jorma was a big fan of Gary Davis. In this lesson I'll teach you the song as well as how to improvise against an Em chord. • I Know You Rider - Traditional. After learning this song I'll show you how to incorporate some hot blues licks in the key of A into the meat and potatoes of the music.• Uncle Sam Blues - Jorma Kaukonen. Here's how to really dress up a 12 bar blues. I'll also show you how to play in 'double-time,' which will really add some excitement to your playing.
