Level 3
Open G tuning is easy to learn and the songs here are fun to play! You won’t need a slide for this set of lessons whose songs you’ll pick up in no time at all. I’ve designed them for the Intermediate fingerpicker who wants to add some variety to their playing.
You’ll learn Mississippi John Hurts’s ‘Frankie and Johnny, ‘Kassie Jones’ by Furry Lewis, the deep Texas style of Lil’ Son Jackson, a traditional song called ‘Mary Don’t You Weep’ and to top it all off my own way of playing the blues simply called ‘Open G Blues,’ a song that will truly expand your horizons in playing the blues in this tuning.
