Changing those guitar strings
I don't know about you, but I've got quite a few guitars that get played pretty often... enough that anything little shortcut when it comes to changing the strings really does come in handy. One of the best videos I've seen on this topic comes from the folks at Taylor which I've included here for you to check out.
I used to anchor my strings at the tuning peg by hooking them but I find that can be a bit of a pain in the neck when it comes time to change them again. You'll notice that the guy in this video doesn't do that, but rather simply uses a couple of winds to hold the string in place. I've found that this is more than sufficient in keeping the string in place. I should know... I bend my strings all the time!!!
You'll also notice that the guy is using a drill to turn those tuning pegs. I picked up a 'Power Peg' tool from Ernie Ball and it's the tops! I also use a little plastic tripod that I picked up from the folks at Planet Waves. I'll usually set a big book on my hotel bed to keep everything nice and stable and go to work.
