The 'Blind Blake' Parlor Guitar by Mike Hauver

This 6 string guitar has the same body dimensions, short scale, and ladder bracing as those of the 1920's Stella Concert Guitars.
I first heard of Mike Hauver when visiting with Neil Harpe... owner of stellaguitars.com. Neil is a consummate old style blues guitarist and artist who also deals in wonderful vintage Stella guitars.
Neil was telling me about this luthier he used to refurbish those guitars that he sells... Mike Hauver. He told me that Mike has been restoring those old Stella guitars... as well as many other vintage instruments... for many years and he sure knows his stuff.
Neil also told me that Mike builds 'em the way the were built in the 20's and 30's but with improved features like adjustable truss rods, carbon fiber truss rods, compensated saddles and bolt on necks.
So I paid a visit to Mike and after hearing his instruments I ordered a couple for myself. This is the Blind Blake model.
It has a 25" scale, 13.25" across at the lower bout with a ladder braced Adirondack spruce top and birch back and sides. Birch? Yes, birch because many of the old time Stella's were made with that which may explain the punchy tone they produce.. perfect for old fingerpicking blues and old timey music.
Mine has an ebony fingerboard and pyramid bridge with a compensated bone saddle and nut. Here's a video of me showing the features of the guitar and playing the Blind Blake song 'Guitar Chimes:'
