1953 Kalamazoo KG-1

Picture

In 1953, Gibson made Kalamazoo acoustic guitars designated as Model KG-1, which were the forerunner to the Gibson Model LG-0. Recent information indicates that they were possibly two batches of approximately 35-40 guiras made in total.  In addition, shipping records list 280 Model 'KM' Kalamazoo Mandolin shipped between 1949-1953, as well as Model KES - Kalamazoo Electric Spanish models from this era.

KG-1 - c1953
Similar to Gibson LG-0 except no truss rod
30s-40s Kalamazoo logo stenciled on headstock
All mahogany back, sides, top & 14-fret neck
"pointed roof peak" peghead shape
Ladder-braced top
Martin style tortoise pickguard
Kluson "waffle-back" 3-on-plate tuners
1 11/16" nut width

Here's a video of what the guitar sounds like.
