SKILL LEVELS

Level 1
- Students will have mastered their basic open chords and play a few songs.

Level 2 - Level 1 plus: being able to play some basic fingerpicking patterns.

Level 3 - Level 1, 2, plus: Students should be able to play an alternating bass with an independent melody on top.

You'll learn how to play the following songs: • 'I Am The Light Of This World' - Reverend Gary Davis I remember learning this song from a friend of mine who was a Hot Tuna fanatic. I always thought some bluegrass style lead breaks would work well as solos. • 'Embryonic Journey' - Jorma Kaukonen I'll teach you my arrangement and show you how to improvise your own lead breaks while playing an alternating bass. • Death Don't Have No Mercy - Reverend Gary Davis It's not accident that Jorma was a big fan of Gary Davis. In this lesson I'll teach you the song as well as how to improvise against an Em chord. • I Know You Rider - Traditional. After learning this song I'll show you how to incorporate some hot blues licks in the key of A into the meat and potatoes of the music.• Uncle Sam Blues - Jorma Kaukonen. Here's how to really dress up a 12 bar blues. I'll also show you how to play in 'double-time,' which will really add some excitement to your playing.

Band In Your Hand - Turn your fingerpicking hand into a one man band. Add excitement to your playing by learning how to play both lead guitar and a steady bass simultaneously. Even if you’ve never played lead guitar before, this course will give you all the tools you’ll need to add expressive solos to your playing. You’ll learn over how to apply over 150 licks, across the entire fingerboard in two of the major blues keys - A and E. Using the CAGED system, you’ll also fully understand how to transpose those licks to other keys as well.
