Blues In The Schools - Weber Middle School - 2024

Each year I present my Blues In The Schools program to several schools in the NY State area. At Weber Middle School in Port Washington, we start out with my telling the students of my visits to Mississippi where I learned the Blues from some of the masters like James Son Thomas and Jack Owens. In the next segment I teach groups of students how to write Blues lyrics and then show the ones who brought in their instruments how to play the blues. In the final segment each group of students comes up to 'sing' their new song while my new 'band' and myself back them up. It's a hoot!!
